THE END
This is the last update on the blog before I log off. Firstly a huge thank you to all the messages of support throughout the last 9 days. Secondly a big thank you to everyone who has contributed to my justgiving page. There is plenty of time to still donate if you haven't done so - follow the justgiving links on the blog.

I am just waiting for a train to Inverness where I'll be met by my family. Ironically the wether this morning in wick is goergeous - hardly any wind (comparatively) and sunny! What we would have done this week for hat! The train follows the coastline so hopefully I may get a bit more of a chance to appreciate it than I did yesterday. Once I get to Inverness I'll turn the tracker off.

Thanks again and bye bye.

To Harry and other families living the trauma of battens disease!

Day 9
Golspie to John OGroats
Felt quite buoyant this morning knowing it Is the last day. The first 18 miles were really good when we stopped for a hot drink at the harbour in Helmsdale. After this there were some long steep hills and the rain set in, looking like it was there for the day. We needed to find somewhere to warm up and get out of the wind and did so after a further 18 miles. After an hour we set off again with it still raining but then it stopped and we were left with a great tail wind for the next 20 miles. Thinking we were almost there we had another stop an dried out. However by the time we left the wind direction had changed and we had a huge head / cross wind to John ogroats for the last 17 miles.

Eventually we got there to ne greeted by pete's family and a glass of bubbly. What a way to finish! Thanks

We then headed back to wick where Andy, Pete (and his family) and myself had a lovely meal to round off the trek!

Stopped for something warm to eat 39 miles from the end of our epic trek (that's what it feels like anyway) - John O'Groats here we come
Day 7 Lpch Lomond to Spean bridge
A day of 2 halves. First couple of hours were lovely. Cycling along side loch lomond. Then we started to climbed up glenco and whilst hard work the scenery was stunning! Then we started to descend. It is just wrong that cycling down mountain you cannot get speeds into double figures. On top of this head wind we also had hard rain. Anyway we carried on and by chance met my family in glenco village who were en route to the cottage we are at next week. It was love yo see them last night as the b&b booked for he ride was about 300 yds from the cottage.

Day 8 Spean Bridge to Golspie
What a horribly long day! First 2 hours we only covered 23 miles. It was very wet windy and cold. We were oy too glad to get to fort Augustus to get into somewhere dry and warm. After this the weather picked ip and we had a gorgeous ride up loch ness - no monsters were seen. We made up time at this point and had lunch in Inverness.

We then headed for cromarty were we were to catch the ferry over, but 12 from the town our support driver called to say that the ferry was not running due to high winds. This ended up adding 16 mikes to an already long day meaning our 121 miles didn't finish till 8pm! Last day tomorrow. 70 miles but pretty hilly from all accounts. And guess what - wind and rain forecast!
